What Affects Countertop Cost

We do not publish generic price ranges, because every job is different. Here is what moves a quote.

01

Material and slab count

The stone you choose and how many slabs the layout requires are usually the largest factors. Natural stone pricing varies by variety and availability; engineered quartz varies by brand and design.

02

Layout and complexity

Square footage matters, but so does shape. Angles, curves, long runs that require seams, and pattern matching all add fabrication work.

03

Edges and details

Simple eased edges take less work than ogee or mitered profiles. Waterfall ends and mitered aprons require careful matching and more material.

04

Cutouts and extras

Each sink, cooktop, faucet hole or outlet cutout is work in the shop.

  • Undermount sink cutouts and polishing
  • Cooktop and appliance openings
  • Backsplash height and coverage
  • Tear-out and haul-away of existing countertops
05

Site conditions

Access to the room, stairs, and whether cabinets are ready can affect installation. Plumbing disconnects are handled by the responsible trade and may be a separate cost.
